====== Physical Lab ======
Where is the RAISE Lab located? Who sits where?

===== Main Lab Facility -- McConnell Building =====

Our physical lab is mostly located in the [[https://www.cim.mcgill.ca/|Centre for Intelligent Machines]], 4th Floor of McConnell building. 
  * **MC442** is our main controlled experiment space that is meant for human-subject experiments with collaborative robot arms.
  * **MC444** is a combination of student desk spaces and a supplementary HRI experiment space shared with Prof. Tal Arbel’s [[http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~pvg/|Probabilistic Vision Group]]. 
  * **MC435** is an experimental space shared with Prof. Jeremy Cooperstock’s [[http://srl.mcgill.ca/|Shared Reality Lab]] to be equipped with VICON-mountable rails (i.e., motion capture system) for when we need to conduct controlled experiments needing larger space. 
  * **MC412** is a shared quiet office area between PVG and RAISE for senior Ph.D. students needing quiet writing area and postdoctoral fellows. Access is granted on per needs basis.
  * **MC418** is a shared "robot aquarium" where we have a very small footprint. It hosts other robotics labs, such as that of Prof. [[https://sites.google.com/site/hsiuchinlin/|Hsiu-chin Lin]], [[https://www.audreysedal.net/|Audrey Sedal]], and the [[https://www.cim.mcgill.ca/~mrl/index.html|Mobile Robotics Lab]]. Access is granted on per needs basis.

===== Other Spaces =====

As the RAISE Lab is highly collaborative with affiliations across Montreal, we have physical access to the following as well. 
  * **Retail Innovation Lab**: We are part of the [[https://www.mcgill.ca/bensadoun-school/ril|Retail Innovation Lab]], which is a living lab consisting of a frictionless retail store. This is the Couche-Tard store located at the Bronfman Building. This means we have access to the living lab as our experimental space as long as we go through the proper steps to do so.
  * **Mila**: AJung is a Core Academic Member of Mila. As such, students supervised by AJung can register to gain access to [[private:Mila|Mila]]. You’ll need to be a registered student at McGill for these to kick in:

    * If you want a security card for physical access to Mila, you'll need to request it via myMila.
  * **International Laboratory of Learning Systems (ETS)**: As we are a member of the ILLS, an international laboratory shared with Paris Saclay University, France, and ETS/Mila etc. we will have physical access to Pavillion F building at the [[https://www.etsmtl.ca/|ETS]] campus downtown. Access information will be updated as the renovation finishes.

==== Meeting Rooms ===
You might need to book rooms for your thesis defence, seminars, or other research-related activities.
Reach out to ECE reception (reception.ece@mcgill.ca) and cc AJung to inquire about rooms available for the specific time/date. 
Typically, we’ll use McConnell Room 603 (Dept. of ECE) for larger group meetings. If the room is exceptionally busy, we can reach out to CIM to find a slot on the 4th floor. To book a room with CIM, ask for availability via (roombookings@cim.mcgill.ca).

It's a good idea to have talked to AJung about these room needs and cc her in your room request emails because: (a) the university often needs someone's blessing to access these places to make sure you aren't using the spaces for non-research purposes (e.g., partying :P) and (b) it'll avoid you & AJung having another back-and-forth emails with receptionists/support staff about the nature of the event etc.

Since these are shared conference/seminar rooms that belong to a large group of people, any 1-on-1 meetings with your supervisor(s) or similar smaller meetings (between two/three people) should take place at the supervisor(s)' office or similarly smaller spaces.
